Discovery Museum

This Weekend we took Kai to the Bay Area Discovery Museum.  The lil' tots room was filled with areas built just for little ones to explore.  In the water room, he was not too sure about the movement of the water area, where the 'floor' was built and moved like a waterbed.  At one point he crawled to the edge and held onto 'dry land'.  It was so cute.  

On Sunday, we laid low.  Kai had a slight fever and we discovered his third tooth!  Finally, we caught a tooth coming in.  The first one was identified by Day Care, the second by his pediatrician and the third by his parents....

Happy Friday

This Friday, the weather was warm and sunny, so we picked up Kai early and headed to our local German Beergarden... for a little happy hour.  

Check out the little man... he loves drinking out of cups and why would he not want to get into the action.  Ahmad has to watch out, he almost took down his glass (as seen below)!

This week at DayCare

Can you believe it!  Check out our little boy.  We stopped to pick him up early on Monday and he was scratching and banging away during Gymboree Music time.  Look at him in the center of the action, can you say first born?!  

Then on Wednesday we found our first Art project attached to his daily paperwork.  It almost brought tears to my eyes.  Look at the photos, he was so into it and ensuring it was properly smeared.  They told us he did not even try to eat it!

Homemade food

This is what my Sunday's consist of... making and preparing daily meals for Kai.  I love it.  Its fun to mix and match but it is hard/ time consuming work!

Birthday Parties

This weekend we celebrated Elena Ereso's first birthday.  The festivities were held in golden gate park. There was food, homemade beer and of course lots of presents and cake!!  

Kai was a little shy at first but then jumped at the chance to play with Nicolas and Elena!

San Francisco Zoo II

This weekend we visited the zoo again!

This time we went to the Children's Zoo portion.  We first visited the Nature Trail where you could meet and greet animals (chinchilla, snakes, turtles, birds...).  Then we headed to the petting zoo area. Here I think Ahmad was more excited than Kai, but Kai was also pretty stoked.  I did not have enough quarters to be able to get enough food pellets to Ahmad for feeding the animals... darn, we have to go back... We were able to pet and feed sheep, goats, ducks and check out  the Donkeys, Roasters, Alpacs and pigs!

The picture below was maybe the funniest thing we have ever seen.  This goat had himself relaxing on a bench at the entrance of the barn.  He was just hanging out waiting for an entrance fee (food).  His front hoofs were completely off the ground and at first I thought he was a stuffed animal... As you can see Kai thought his billy goat gruff (beard) was pull worthy!

Kai's cold took all of us down (well, I think Kai's cold took me down and Ahmad brought back a ferocious cold from a little kid next to him on a plane)  Anyhow, I degrees... Today, had a series of family Dr. appointments... it of course ended with us recognizing how rookie we are as new parents.  Our Dr. took a strep test out of sympathy, we are sure... and Kai's Dr. joked that she was happy we came in!  Being first time parents we grabbed ahold of the experience!  We then took the opportunity to have a family lunch!  

Here Kai was such a big boy in a high chair for the first time!  I am not sure if I have said it before.... but WE JUST LOVE THAT LITTLE BOY!!!!

Bouncy House

This weekend we had an ice cream social at a friends house.  Well, what did we find... a bouncy house!  Of course, Ahmad HAD to go inside with Kai!

Olympics

Our household is a big Olympic watching place!  We stay up way too late and get way to excited during the summer Olympics.  What better way to get Kai involved then to get him a rock'n London 2012 Olympic outfit!

Daycare Summary

Here are some pictures of Kai in his new daycare.  We joke, his first week of daycare, first cold and first tooth!  This week has definitely been full of firsts!  The first day I had to go alone to pick up Kai, I was holding him packing up his goodies and a little girl (Haile) asked to be picked up by Kai's primary care taker Cathy.  Cathy picked up Haile, who immediately wanted to pet Kai.  I happened to look past Haile as see another little girl with the biggest snottiest nose EVER standing behind Cathy and then I turn and Haile is reaching to pet my sweet little boy.  My initial reaction was to jerk and run with Kai far far away... but not wanting to scare little Haile I stood there meditating and stay in my head (You know she pet your little boy all day!)!!!  Needless to say, Kai came down with a cold on Wednesday and me on Thursday... good thing Ahmad was out on a business trip...  

This was definitely a hard week for me but I feel really good about where he is.  I love that it is on our work campus and I can go visit him anytime I would like.  I even had to sign a permission slip this week if we wanted to go to the zoo together!  BTW: I was not ready to sign permission slips!!!

It is really nice, they have so many activities and special events (special Art Teacher, Music Teacher, Gymboree twice a week, etc.).  I guess you get what you pay for... (Ahmad was talking about getting a nanny as it would be less expensive, but I don't think anyone could match the experiences he is getting here..which including colds!!)

First week of DayCare

So, we survived his first week!  While Monday was a very difficult day for me, Kai seemed to really enjoy his time.  By the time Wednesday came around, he had caught his first cold and on Friday we learned he was getting his first tooth!!
