Happy Halloween!

So, this year I really wanted to do a theme family costume thing... I started early in the planning but Ahmad said the kids were too young.... then 2 days before Halloween, Ahmad had the best idea and needed a costume for work "Hey Jenn, Lets do a coordinated costume" me: "Wow, wonder why I did not suggest that earlier so we could plan and buy the best coordinated outfit?'

Anyhow, Here we are a much of misfits but Kai enjoyed his Astronaut Suit (and the teachers help convince him it was super cool... he really wanted spiderman) and Fin barely fit into Kai's Giraffe costume... I can not control the 9mth baby giant... and Ahmad and I settled on The Nightmare before Christmas.  His friends in DC have always said he makes a great Jack the Pumpkin King!  We entered a work contest and heard some people actually voted for us... get out!

Imagination Parade 2014

 As you may remember 2nd Generation does not celebrate Halloween per say, but what they do hold is an imagination day parade for the kiddos.  Each room has a theme and the teachers (and kids but mainly teachers) make the costumes.

This year Hummingbirds (Fin's room) took direction from the nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty where children were either the kings men or Humpty themselves... Fin was Humpty of course... he was so cute and the carriages the children stroll along in the inner courtyard were made up so spectacularly!  In Owl's (Kai's room) they were spiders from the nursery rhyme itsy bitsy spider.

Sleep Training

Sleep training started this week.  I really enjoyed the two days home alone with Fin, he was such a sweetheart.  We had so much fun playing together.  While it was really difficult the first day, he was a champ and on the first day started sleeping thru the night.

Pumpkin patch

Kai is in love with pumpkins(as you may have seen in a earlier post). So we decided to get Fin into the action.

Big Helper

This morning I had to run upstairs to get our work bags.  This meant that I left Kai out of his highchair and Fin still buckled in as I was in between spoonful.  Kai took it upon himself to help feed Fin.  It was so sweet and he was so proud.  I am one lucky Momma!

You sum, I want my sum. Dim Sum

This Sunday we had lunch at the local Dim Sum place.  I enjoyed, Ahmad wanted more hard core stuff and the kids kicked our butt

Brothers

Today after work was so fun with the boys.  They played all evening together.  Before dinner Kai made sure Fin was safe in all the areas of his exploring. It was so sweet and helpful for me.  Then after dinner they shared a peach together.  Then we played in the living room. Kai pretended to be a dinosaur and we had to guess which one.  Then we played a memory game and finally just sang songs.  Fin crawled and practiced standing.  What a wonderful night. We were ear to ear grinning and filled with love!!

Teeth, we have our first teeth!

He is getting his first tooth!  I know its hard to see here in this picture, but the bottom left tooth is starting to peek out!  

I also found it hilarious his soothing technique (feet)!  I will save this one for his later years where he can see how flexible he was at one time!  Also, yes, his forehead is bruised... what else did you expect of a giant mellon head baby?  When he gets tired and is still crawling he tips forward and bangs his head... poor boy

8 months old

Here he is, 8 months old!  I could barely get a shot with all the moving.

The King

Ah, yeah that is basically Fin's bed.  A full california king size bed!  I just love him to pieces.

End of Summer

Enjoying the very warm weather we are having in OCTOBER!  But we will take it, its perfect for getting use out of our newly resurfaced pool!

Boys Bonding part deux

Here is another photo of Ahmad bonding with the boys.  You can not tell but this was taken at 8am in the morning.  Fin woke early today and Ahmad took him outside to play.  By 8am he was ready for his first nap and nap they did!

Boys Talk

I love this picture.  It was cool, Kai was feeling better and I heard Ahmad ask him if he wanted to go outside and sit and drink together.  Kai of course had his milk cup; Ahmad is beer.  They pulled up chairs and cheers and then drank... Ahmad tried to engage Kai in some conversation.   

I quickly ran out to take this shot, I think I will try to do something similar every year, it was such a sweet and priceless moment!

Hand Foot Mouth

Well one of those horrible diseases finally hit our home.  Kai was called out on Wednesday with the hand foot and mouth virus.  It was horrible, we have never seen him so sick.  He was so miserable.  We both took off work and took him into the drs.  They confirmed our worse suspicious.  

The virus produces sores on the hands, feet and in the mouth.  Kai had it mainly in his mouth so not only was he feeling bad, he also did not want to eat because everything hurt.  We tried some warm chocolate milk, bought ice cream, popsicles, apple sauce, etc.  He wanted really nothing.  Poor guy!
