Teeth, we have our first teeth!
He is getting his first tooth! I know its hard to see here in this picture, but the bottom left tooth is starting to peek out!
I also found it hilarious his soothing technique (feet)! I will save this one for his later years where he can see how flexible he was at one time! Also, yes, his forehead is bruised... what else did you expect of a giant mellon head baby? When he gets tired and is still crawling he tips forward and bangs his head... poor boy

He is on the move
Its funny, our kids may never really crawl! Kai was an army crawler, never got his knees up under him, the arm crawl across the floor worked well enough for him until he could pull himself up and cruise along furniture. Now with Fin, he seems fine butt scooting. Ahmad was helping him learn he could crawl but he seems happier moving this way. It is early still but it would be funny to me if neither 'crawled' in the traditional sense. I like it, they beat to their own drum and carve out what works best for them. That is the best way to live life, my munchkins!

First Foods!
We started Fin on foods this weekend! It was so fun, we was excited and loved the peaches. Loved it so much he did not want to give up his spoon.

First Haircut
We finally decided that the hair maintenance for Kai was non longer worth the morning 'handsome' battles (handsome battle was hair brushing). So Friday we took Kai for his first haircut!
He chose to ride in the police car and watch Dinosaur Train episode while getting a haircut. He did okay; only requiring one band aid for the hairdresser.
It's amazing how different a haircut can make someone look. My little baby is a little boy!

It's starting!!!!!
They said interest will come in at two windows, 2.5 and 3.5 yrs of age. I like that Kai seems interested now! He apparently uses the potty at school for all #1s. Here last night he was interested in trying things out but we have to say playing with the TP was more entertaining for this 2 year old.
Wish us luck!

Chatty Kai
OMG, has Kai's language kicked in... not only can he count to 10 and say his ABCs and spell his name... but he also has some great catch phrases.
- good morning all the bodies
- clean up all the bodies (this is said in a sing song voice as he cleans up)
- daddy doing
- my some (picture a head tilt as to woo you into giving him some)
- my self or by self (because he is independent)
- hippo Pee - U (apparently the trip to the zoo one weekend and seeing the hippo go to the bathroom left a major impact on him... he shares this with everyone)
- go away outside (not sure where he learned this but he commands you to go away outside if he is displeased with you or your actions... usually because it involves No-ing him)

Someone starting to talk
I wish I had more in-depth or 'sweet' sentences to share, but this was still quite hilarious. Friends told me that he must go to school with some little girls. Poor Ahmad... but darn this little man is adorable!

Day 12: First Christmas Tree
We are thankful to have a little one to celebrate the holidays with now. It is so much fun to step up and decorate and plan our holidays for Kai. While it maybe early we both feel the holiday cheer in full effect!! This year Kai is really into birds (he says bir... bir..) and so we bought and decorated an all birdie tree! Here he is on his introduction to the birdies.

This week at DayCare
Can you believe it! Check out our little boy. We stopped to pick him up early on Monday and he was scratching and banging away during Gymboree Music time. Look at him in the center of the action, can you say first born?!
Then on Wednesday we found our first Art project attached to his daily paperwork. It almost brought tears to my eyes. Look at the photos, he was so into it and ensuring it was properly smeared. They told us he did not even try to eat it!

Lunching with Mom & Dad
Kai's cold took all of us down (well, I think Kai's cold took me down and Ahmad brought back a ferocious cold from a little kid next to him on a plane) Anyhow, I degrees... Today, had a series of family Dr. appointments... it of course ended with us recognizing how rookie we are as new parents. Our Dr. took a strep test out of sympathy, we are sure... and Kai's Dr. joked that she was happy we came in! Being first time parents we grabbed ahold of the experience! We then took the opportunity to have a family lunch!
Here Kai was such a big boy in a high chair for the first time! I am not sure if I have said it before.... but WE JUST LOVE THAT LITTLE BOY!!!!

First week of DayCare
So, we survived his first week! While Monday was a very difficult day for me, Kai seemed to really enjoy his time. By the time Wednesday came around, he had caught his first cold and on Friday we learned he was getting his first tooth!!
1st week, 1st cold, 1st tooth!
1st week, 1st cold, 1st tooth!

First Day of DayCare
Kai's first day of school was today. We woke up early (5am) and got ourselves ready in an easy fashion. Kai wanted to sport his Olympic Romper for his first day. When we arrived at the Blue House, at the Genentech 2nd Generation Daycare center, we went to Kai's room (the Hummingbird room). We found a nice welcome size that Kai was immediately interested in.
It was extremely hard for me to say good bye and leave him for the day. We called Ahmad and face time him so he could wish Kai well and good luck!
At lunch time we received an email with pictures letting us know that Kai was enjoying his day playing with all the new toys. It was especially fascinating for me to see him seeking out the red balls and blocks to play with at 2nd Gen. I am now sure Red is his favorite color!

Did someone say Bananas!

| Loving it! |
Kai is just loving eating solids. Here is what he has had so far!
- Avocado - Liked it alone the first day... no so much the days following
- Bananas - LOVES LOVES LOVES bananas... he kicks his feet with excited
- Carrotts - He cried the first time he tried these... but mix with Bananas he like
- Lamb - He was slowly ate his first serving up; even when mixed with Carrots... but he loved it when it was mixed with apples!
Next up we are going to try out sweet potatoes and butternut squash. Its amazing how cute he is, he gets excited watching the food get prepared and when he sits in his 'highchair'. He also so proud while he is eating. When the Bananas come out he even purrs a hummmmmm.... which we encourage into a yum - um- yum!

Kai's First Bus Ride
This weekend Nonnie, Kai and I took the bus from our apartment to the Ferry Building. This experience riding Muni was definitely that... an experience. The bus started off crowded but slimmed down once we hit Market. Kai was not so sure in the beginning of the ride with all the people but felt better about it after a little while. I am not sure how much I'll rely on using the bus to get around. While it is very convenient for us from our apartment, I too had some crowding / people anxiety!

Kai's First Food
Tonight we decided it was time to start Kai on solid foods. We thought what better food to start him off on then Avocado. Why Avocado? Well, we felt it was fatty, delicious and very Californian!
Here are some of our favorite pictures!

First understandable Babble
| Happy July 4th everyone !!!! (here Kai is waiting with me for some delicious burgers at the SF Ferry Building Farmers Market) |
Today when we woke today, we placed Kai in bed with us hoping he would fall asleep for just 1 hour more. While we tried to sleep (hoping he would), he started talking his usual babble.... it was then that I swore I heard Mamma mamama... my heart of course skipped a beat and I fell more in love. However, I was not sure if I dreamt it or not, so I did not say anything. I woke up and off to work I went. It was then during lunch time as Ahmad was on his way to pick me up from work (I was taking advantage of the holiday week and decided to leave at noon to spend it with my favorite men), that I received this video. Nanni was at home with Kai and recorded his first understandable babble! Amazing... I thank Ahmad for talking to Kai and encouraging him to say mama, especially after he says hmmmmmmmmmm.... Its amazing how fast he is growing up... its amazing how much you can fall in love with someone you just met... he someone we are so thankful to have in our lives and are so happy we decided to have children!

13 hours
Oh me oh my! Our little boy is growing up!!! Last night he slept for 13 hrs and 23 minutes!!! What a bittersweet treat. I love the sleep but it was never really an issue with Kai. On the other hand it means he is getting bigger and more grown up!
