Tough Mudder

We went up to the Poconos to see Uncle Chris compete in his first race ever! He not only signed up for a half marathon race but for one that includes over 24 serious obstacles. The weather was forecasted to be COLD... but in the end we lucked out with nice sunny weather! Kai enjoyed again playing in the sun while we waited for Chris to come to the 'walk the plank' cold water feature. Of course it was a water feature... we are exposing Kai to all things water...

Flight and Arrival

Well the flight alone with Kai was amazing, the little man slept for the first 2.5 hours and then together we played for the next 1.5 hours before finishing up the trip with a bite to eat and a nap during the last hour of the flight! We lucked out possibly with arriving into Philly almost 1 hour early.

As we packed up and left the plane, so many people commented that they could not believe there was a baby on board! I did not even get a chance to use the majority of distraction arsenal items I brought with us on the plane! A camping pillow acted as a bouncy chair (not the fancy sling I bought for the plane) and a new blue infant elephant toy for batting and observing. Who said our camping gear would not see the light of day for awhile?!

Finally, we made it thru security where Mim and Pop were waiting... There was a very warm welcome with tons of kisses for Kai and after awhile I got a hug too!!!

Today Kai and I went on a walk around the city.  We started with a stop in at Starbucks... I know a commercial operation which is not supportive of the local coffee industry... but we did get to ride the handicap lift up to the ordering counter!!  That was fun!

We then walked to the water by Aquatic Park and checked out the swimmers before heading up Fort Mason's hill into the park area.  We kicked off our shoes and watch the bikers, runners, dog walkers and families play.  We even got to see a large helicopter go by overhead.  The weather was great and we picnic... well one of us lunched.  This was one of my best days yet with my little man!  I see more picnics in our future, especially with Ahmad BBQ up a feast!  He just loved it outside!!

Our favorite time with Kai is definitely in the morning.  He is just like his mom and loves mornings.

Party with Friends

This Saturday we had a Baby shower party to attend for a close friend of ours.  It was a boy / girl and bring your baby shower.  Ahmad, Kai and I arrived at 2:30pm and stayed until 7:00pm.  The party was fun and Kai was fascinated by all the conversations, people and noise.  As we left, everyone joked that we did not bring a real baby... a real baby makes noise.  Here he is napping before the guests arrived in his normal relaxed position.

Two Month Pediatrician Appointment

On Thursday, Kai's went in for his 2 month pediatrician visit.  This was a big visit and I made sure Ahmad was with us as I did not want to be the only person he imprinted in his mind when it came to getting shots.  

The little boy is growing fast, his new statistics are:

• Weight: 14lbs 6ozs (off the charts!) 
• Height: 24" (95th percentile)

Saddington (Uncle Matt to Kai) was over this weekend... Teaching him nothing good we are sure! Kai loved every moment!

We captured some additional milestones.  The little one rolled onto his side.  He also practices out in his little gym for his next match with little kitty.  He has been working on his jabs, his push-up gaining strength and now consistently can hit his mark as well as grab.  If I were little kitty I would tuck in my tail or who knows how the next match up will turn out!

Happy 2 months Birthday!

We celebrated Kai's two (2) month's birthday and of course we did it up!  It was combined with an early Easter Celebration!  I personally can not wait till the little man can color eggs and we hide easter baskets from the Easter Bunny that he must find.  In fact, up until this year, my mom still hid a basket for me… I guess this is a torch hand off… and I that is okay.

Our celebration dinner included Grilled Leg of Lamb, Cacio e Pepe and roasted veggies.  We cracked open one of the our special bottles of Spanish wine that I brought back from Madrid and was holding for a just an occasion.

We love having a new reason to celebrate!  Happy Birthday our little one!!

I finally put away my maternity clothing and took myself shopping for a new outfit. I thought why not introduce Kai early into helping his lady buy clothing! As a typical man he was not too thrilled but lucky for him I knew what I was after and do not like to spend hours in stores. Lucky for me his stroller is super handy in carting items to try on.

Smiles and Bubbles

Over the last few weeks we have been experiencing some of Kai's new 'tricks'.  He is the most happy in the morning after waking  up and eating.  This is where we captured him blowing bubbles and SMILING!!  Nonnie taught him to laugh when either he or someone sticks out their tongue… oh boy… how are we going to explain that one?

Muir Woods

This weekend we took a chance that the weather would be clear and nice over in Marin County... We were right!  Here we are crossing the golden gate bride (a first for Kai) and off to Muir Woods.  The pictures of Kai were a bit washed out but it was very enjoyable all the same!
