Flight East

Off to the East Coast we go!!

On the plane we found birds in the inflight magazine... feewww.. lucky us.  Kai was really wonderful.  He played with us for about 2 hours, eat some dinner and then went to bed.  We arrived just around midnight.   We could get spoiled by this good fortune!

Christmas 2012

Today we celebrated our Christmas with Kai in San Francisco! He loved his Alpaca push toy and construction food set from uncle JD and Aunt Gina! We then headed off to the mall for pictures with Santa! It was terrifying as I knew it but I just had to get have this picture.

Playing with Kitty

It is just amazing how fast he is growing up. Today when we came home Kai crawled over and pick up the kitty toy (bird on a string). He then started waving it at the cat... Just as he has seen us. Little kitty in a feisty mood (risked her life coming close to Kai) and batted at the toy. This made Kai so extremely happy!

Ahhhhhh it's so awesome!

Getting a Christmas Photo

This year it was soooo hard getting a photo for Kai.  I was so hoping his school pictures would have been super cute to put on this card, but no luck.  So, that left me to getting the best photo myself.  Here you can see some of what I tried... In the Presidio on the only non-wet portion of Crissy Field.  Kai was more interested in Sophie and eating my phone... Yup, lack of planning on my part.  So, finally, I just plopped him down on our couch with a decoration bought for christmas for him to hold to get what we ultimately used on his first Christmas Card!

Hanging with the Ladies

Yup, he is a ladies man!

This weekend we have multiple parties.  Here Kai was working the room at a Navy/ Amy Football party.

Our baby turns 10 months Old

Wow, what a treat, our little one is now 10 months old.  The photos are hard and hard to come by... someone is all about crawling!!

His stats:
Weight, height, etc are approximately what they were at 9mths BUT....

He cruises all along the furniture and even as of last weekend was standing by himself for a minute or so.  He is also starting to talk.  He says Bir (for Bird); daugh (for dog), Da Da, Wa Wa (for water) and Ba Ba (for bottle).   At daycare they have taught him sign language for more, all done and milk.  We just absolutely love it and our time with him!

School Photos

Here is how Kai's school photos came out.  I was super hoping they would have been good enough for our Christmas cards but his terror stricken face is not one I want out in mass distribution.

Christmas Tea

We went to the Fairmont Hotel to see their 2- story gingerbread house. Kai loved the train. Ahmad tried to eat the structured sweet!

Day 29: Mornings

This month was hard to find one a month.  Here we are looking for creative ways to keep Kai preoccupied so we can get ready for work!

Day 22: Laser Pointers

We discovered Kai likes the laser pointer as much as the kitty!

Day 20: Bath Time

Our little boy, loves bath time.  Here he is splashing away in the tub!

Day 19: Wine

We enjoyed ourselves today at Pride Winery.  Here is an okay picture of the two of us.  Kai was so well behaved, and as he should be for a 9.5 mth old.  The people were shocked at how quiet and entertained he was.  So, today, we are thankful to still be able to do wine tastings and now with Kai!

Day 18: Coffee

We love our Neighborhood coffee shop, here the whole crew went out to get some Blue Bottle

Day 17: Helpers

Here the boys are working together to rehang our kitchen cabinet door. Kai already is right there ready to help with his hammer.

Day 16: Uncles

Uncle Chris is in town!! Kai warmed up very quickly and has a new favorite person!

Day 15: the Zoo

A favorite as you may know! Each time we go he gets more and more excited... Kai that is.

Day 12: First Christmas Tree

We are thankful to have a little one to celebrate the holidays with now.  It is so much fun to step up and decorate and plan our holidays for Kai.  While it maybe early we both feel the holiday cheer in full effect!!  This year Kai is really into birds (he says bir... bir..) and so we bought and decorated an all birdie tree!    Here he is on his introduction to the birdies.  

Day 11: Abalone

Day 10: Baby Laughter

This is maybe our all time favor video of Kai.   He had some uncontrollable laughter as we played with a kitty.  So, for today, we are thankful for baby laughter!

Day 9: Girlfriends

At school, Kai has some lady friends.  Here Hailey came to sit next to Kai.  They hugged (or she hugged Kai) and Kai tried to Kiss (or eat) Hailey.  Ashlyn was monitoring everything close by.  Ashlyn usually gets really excited to see Kai, she knows how to say his name and waves Hello and Goodbye!

 

Day 8: Music

Kai is so cute with almost any instrument.  Here he is at school playing with the new pianos.

The program at 2nd Gen has Gymboree (a children program) come into the classroom twice a week, where on one of the days the theme is music.  Here Kai is always up front and center playing on the drum or the tambourine, etc.  His teachers often let us know how he prefers to play with the musical instruments in the room.  This lead to us purchasing a drum and xylophone for him at home.  

 

Day 7: Birthdays

Everyone who knows me well knows, I love birthdays.  For Kai we celebrate every month!  To my 9 month old!  We love you!!!

Day 6: Voting Please

We are thankful for our voice and the right to vote!  We had fun voting with Kai today! 

Day 5: Toy Stores

It is so much fun taking Kai into Toy Stores these days.  He interacts more and more with the items.  I guess this will be short lived but for now, I am happy to get such smiles!!

Day 2: Weekday Mornings Alone

Ahmad was traveling again this week.  I woke up today, Friday and proceeded with our normal routine... Diaper changes (yes, multiple in an hour span in the morning), dressing and moving to the playroom.  While taking care of Kai is more overwhelming alone, it also gives me some special alone time with him.   The mornings definitely move slower, the house is more quiet and I get so much less accomplished, but it is this that I really enjoy.  This morning he sat jiggling his toy and laughing... He kept looking at me when he jiggled the toy caterpillar as he was trying to get me to laugh as well... which of course I was... It's these mornings I love and will cherish.. When things slow down, it's quiet and I get to just enjoy the little man!
