First Day of DayCare

Kai's first day of school was today.  We woke up early (5am) and got ourselves ready in an easy fashion.  Kai wanted to sport his Olympic Romper for his first day.  When we arrived at the Blue House, at the Genentech 2nd Generation Daycare center, we went to Kai's room (the Hummingbird room).  We found a nice welcome size that Kai was immediately interested in.

It was extremely hard for me to say good bye and leave him for the day.  We called Ahmad and face time him so he could wish Kai well and good luck!

At lunch time we received an email with pictures letting us know that Kai was enjoying his day playing with all the new toys.  It was especially fascinating for me to see him seeking out the red balls and blocks to play with at 2nd Gen.  I am now sure Red is his favorite color!

Academy of Sciences

This weekend we headed back to the Academy of Sciences.  We checked out the baby Ostriches again, this time outside in the play yard and then experienced EarthQuake the new exhibit that has a shake house.  What is a Shake House, its a simulation of what it may have felt like during 1986 and 1906 Earthquakes in San Francisco.

Kai definitely knew something was happening that was not normal, but we kept him all smiles.  We finished up our tour visiting the Africa Room and watching the penguin couples chill!

Did someone say Bananas!

Loving it!
Kai is just loving eating solids.  Here is what he has had so far!
  1. Avocado - Liked it alone the first day... no so much the days following
  2. Bananas - LOVES LOVES LOVES bananas... he kicks his feet with excited
  3. Carrotts - He cried the first time he tried these... but mix with Bananas he like
  4. Lamb - He was slowly ate his first serving up; even when mixed with Carrots... but he loved it when it was mixed with apples!
Next up we are going to try out sweet potatoes and butternut squash.  Its amazing how cute he is, he gets excited watching the food get prepared and when he sits in his 'highchair'.  He also so proud while he is eating.  When the Bananas come out he even purrs a hummmmmm.... which we encourage into a yum - um- yum!

The Zoo!

This weekend we also joined the zoo.  Here is a look at some of the animals we saw.  I think the animals are a bit far away for Kai to really pick them out.  We plan to try the Children's area next visit!

Academy of Sciences

We had a jammed packed weekend.  After the Farmers' Market we picked up Ahmad and headed to the Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park.  It was so much fun!  Kai loved it which was a total surprise to us.  He really got into watching the large colorful fish!  We joined as members so I see many more explorations in our future!

Kai's First Bus Ride

This weekend Nonnie, Kai and I took the bus from our apartment to the Ferry Building.  This experience riding Muni was definitely that... an experience.  The bus started off crowded but slimmed down once we hit Market.  Kai was not so sure in the beginning of the ride with all the people but felt better about it after a little while.  I am not sure how much I'll rely on using the bus to get around.  While it is very convenient for us from our apartment, I too had some crowding / people anxiety!
